Birds of Prey
Join us for a free birds of prey identification class taught by naturalist James Davis. This class will help you better identify local raptors and you'll also learn about the natural history of these amazing birds. The program is suitable for adults and teenagers, and will help prepare participants for the 10th annual Raptor Road Trip on Saturday, Feb. 8, sponsored by Metro, Audubon Society of Portland, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and HawkWatch International.

This three-mile out-and-back trail starts at the Mazama Lodge Snow Park and goes down a gentle grade to the Multipor Ski area and back.

The group will stop in Government Camp for those who need to rent snowshoes. Bring water and snacks to eat along the trail. Also, pack a lunch to eat indoors at the Summit Ski Lodge, where hikers can also purchase warm drinks. The group will also stop at the Dairy Queen in Sandy on the way home.

  • Round-trip travel: 82 miles
  • Suggested donation per rider: $8
  • Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
  • Elevation gain: 150 feet

Drivers are needed who are equipped and willing to drive in the snow.

New Seasons Market is launching a program to turn leftover Thanksgiving cooking oil into clean biofuel, and raise money for Meals on Wheels at the same time.

In partnership with SeQuential Pacific Biodiesel, New Seasons Market, 1954 SE Division St, Portland (Ladd's Addition), is offering a environmentally friendly way to dispose of kitchen grease after the holiday. As a bonus, SeQuential Pacific will donate $1 to New Season’s Meals on Wheels campaign for every gallon of cooking oil collected.

A Journey Back In Time...
The historic Zimmerman House was built in 1874 and was home to three generations of the Zimmerman Family. Their furnishings and personal articles remain in this two-story Victorian home, including children’s toys, games, Christmas postcards, and winter clothing. The third annual evening tours will be held on Tuesday, December 10th and December 17th from 3pm-8pm. We’ll have carols playing on the parlor piano, family recipes on exhibit and ginger snap cookies from the family recipe to take home.

Parking is extremely limited, so please consider car pooling. Please reserve the time you'd like to visit the House, and give yourself approximately 45 minutes to explore both floors of the home.

Admission is free, but the suggested donation for this special event is $5 per person 12 and older.
