Jupiter and the Spring Sky
Join us for a tour of the night sky where you'll whiz through universe from the comfort of your seat!
There are three shows this evening, with start times at 6:00PM, 7:15PM and 8:30PM.
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Planetarium opens the year with more great public shows, a move to a new night and a state-of-the-art digital star projection system.
Each show is presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each program. Children are welcome to attend.
Senior Healthy Hikers: East Summit Trail Snowshoe Hike: Thu Mar 06, 2014 9AM-5PM

This three-mile out-and-back trail starts at the Mazama Lodge Sno-Park and goes down a gentle grade to the Multipor ski area and back. We'll stop in Government Camp for those who need to rent snowshoes. Pack a lunch, and bring a snack to eat on the trail.

- Round-trip travel: 82 miles
- Suggested donation per rider: $8
- Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
- Elevation gain: 150 feet

This walk is a fairly gentle, 3.8-mile snowshoe hike along the road to Bennett Pass (mostly in the trees) with old logging roads off to the sides.
The group will stop in Government Camp for those who need to rent snowshoes. In addition to lunch, bring water and snacks to eat along the trail.

- Difficulty: Moderate
- Elevation gain: 267 feet
Bring a camera because if the weather is clear there will be many views of Mt. Hood. In addition, there will be a beautiful view of Mt. Hood across the valley where the group will stop to eat lunch. Often there are snow caves built by overnighters and Boy Scouts in the area.

Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council for Plantapalooza 2014! This is one in a series of community focused native planting events. Help restore an acre of stream-side habitat along Fairview Creek in Gresham! This project helps to stabilize the sensitive habitat around the creek and improves water quality in the creek and in our groundwater supply. Plantapalooza 2014 offers volunteers a unique opportunity to participate in a large scale restoration project.
Volunteers will assist in planting hundreds of bare-root native plants. No previous planting experience is necessary. Plantapalooza is a great, hands-on learning opportunity appropriate for families, groups and individuals. Register today!

Ernest Bloch: The Man and His Music
Swiss-born composer Ernest Bloch was first and foremost known around the world for his music, blending a variety of musical influences, including Jewish, Swiss, and Native American. In later years, Bloch lived on the Oregon coast, and was inspired by its natural beauty. Bloch’s works are still being performed to this day. Bloch was well known for his music, but people may not know that he was also an avid amateur photographer. The program features Bloch music for string quartet, his words, and photography.

Portland-based Third Angle New Music pushes the boundaries of the expected with the creation and performance of contemporary musical events, works and collaborations. A delightful 1874 Victorian farmhouse
Take a step back into history at the Zimmerman House, a Victorian era farmhouse, built in 1874 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This beautiful farmhouse is a perfect reflection of typical Columbia River dairy farm life in the late 1800s. The Zimmerman Heritage Farm is a unique cultural education and recreational resource that is being created for the benefit of the public on a 5.98-acre historic site in Gresham, Oregon.

This three-mile walk begins at the Multnomah Arts Center. We'll walk through Multnomah Village to Gabriel Park along paved gravel and natural trails that lead to the Southwest Community Center. After a short break at the center, walk the woodsy trails along a creek to a community garden before heading back to town. The group will stop for lunch at Marco’s Café before returning to cars.

Sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
