Join us for a free baseball clinic with treats and friends from our local youth baseball and softball leagues. No experience necessary. All school-aged children are welcome. A ball-park meal and Play Ball t-shirts will be provided.

Clinic features

  • Each participant will receive a Play Ball t-shirt.
  • Baseball coaches leading fun, active stations; participants will rotate throughout the day.
  • The day will end with a group game with Mayor Shane Bemis and City Councilors.

  • Round-trip travel: 120 miles
  • Distance: 4 miles
  • Difficulty: Strenuous
  • Elevation gain: 500 feet
  • Suggested donation per rider: $12 (plus share of $2 bridge toll each way)
  • Trail condition: Begins with steep gravel trail, then becomes rocky and uneven in places

Catherine Creek is a popular and beautiful area on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. We will hike the upper part of the area first, which is about three miles. After returning to the cars, we will enjoy our lunches. There are no tables. After lunch, we will walk the lower part of the area,which is a paved trail with great views and usually lots of flowers. Bring snacks, water and lunch. We recommend long pants, boots/shoes with sturdy soles and poles. This area is exposed to weather, so dress accordingly. Be prepared for ticks, snakes and poison oak.

Senior Healthy Hikers asks that participants be 50 or older. A couple wishing to hike is welcome if one member of the couple is 50 or better.

The forest at Nadaka Nature Park is once again alive with activity as our diverse population of birds are busy nesting, singing, and enjoying the spring air! This May, join Friends of Nadaka and the Audubon Society of Portland as we lead a Spring Bird Walk through Nadaka’s beautiful forest and meadow. We will identify birds and bird calls, talk about species characteristics, and enjoy the richness of our urban bird population!

A limited number of binoculars will be provided. New and experienced birders are all welcome!

Meet at the Nadaka Nature Park picnic shelter at 9:45am to sign in and enjoy coffee and light refreshments before we start our walk at 10am.
