Take The Time To Volunteer And Pickup Trash On Your Walks! Adopt One Block.
NE 169th & NE San Rafeal St

By Candee Layton
Sandstone neighbor

I volunteer with Adopt One Block. As a Block Ambassador, you’ll clean up the block(s) you’ve adopted when and how you want, with litter removal supplies they deliver to you for free.

They supply grabbers, gloves, trash bags or buckets. I walk all over, more than my block. Even if you are not a volunteer with Adopt One Block you can report dumps of garbage, furniture and other items by emailing ridpatrol@oregonmetro.gov

First- A big thank you to Mike Penner and his crew for cleaning up the walkway down San Rafael, taking donations, and spreading barkdust; also for cleaning up the tree branches that came down on NE 162nd & NE Russell St.

Next- Thank you to Albertson’s for cleaning up the berm along NE169th Ave. It took a week of trimming, pruning, sawing, raking, picking up garbage, and hauling it all away!

Sandstone resident graffiti's own home over dispute with neighbor

Un-neighborly neighbor

Painted 'artwork' on house riles neighbors

Gresham OR, July 23, 2010

There is admittedly bad blood between two neighbors in West Gresham's upscale Sandstone neighborhood but now their animosity is impacting an entire neighborhood.

The graffiti on the home of retired dentist Jeffrey Brady has caused his neighbor who's selling his house next door to loose 5 potential sales and 36% of the original asking price. The neighbor says if he doesn't sell his home soon he'll be forced to loose it to foreclosure.

Get ready for increased air traffic as PDX extends their runways

North Runway Extension project underway

Wilkes East residents may notice a change in aircraft flight activity as Portland International Airport begins major runway improvements starting May 1st through October 31st 2009.

During the six-month closure of the north parallel runway jet aircraft will use the south runway and will follow noise abatement procedures that direct them over the Columbia River corridor to minimize overflights of residential areas.

The south runway’s east takeoff and approach path will increase air traffic directly over the Wilkes East neighborhood -- particularly in the Sandstone area.
