  • Distance: 4 miles
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Elevation gain: 200 feet
  • Suggested donation per rider: $1
  • Trail condition: Pavement; in the woods, partially graveled, partially dirt trails

This four-mile loop hike starts on the Springwater Trail at the Main Street Park in Gresham, then proceeds to a neighborhood, then the woods and back to the neighborhood. The only real elevation gain is in the short part of the woods. Wear sturdy walking shoes; poles are optional. After the hike,we will have lunch at the Cedarville Inn.

  • Elevation gain: 385 feet (elevation gain concentrated going up and over Cooks Butte)
  • Suggested donation per rider: $7
  • Trail condition: Includes paved trail, dirt trail and some sidewalks

This hike encompasses greenspaces and forests, as well as suburban streets, to make the loop. Well visit the gardens at Luscher Farms,which includes Rogerson Clematis Garden and the Organic Demonstration Garden, with many colorful blooms, especially dahlias, zinnias and sunflowers, as well as the whimsical scarecrows exhibiting a variety of sartorial tastes posed throughout. From there, well walk through a meadow and then head up the slopes of Cooks Buttea Boring volcano. Then we will complete the loop by descending the Butte on neighborhood streets.

After the hike, we will have lunch at the Cask and Keg Public House in West Linn. Bring a snack and water. Sturdy hiking shoes and trekking poles, if you use them, are recommended.

  • Difficulty: Strenuous
  • Elevation gain: 500 feet
  • Suggested donation per rider: $12 (plus share of $2 bridge toll each way)
  • Trail condition: Begins with steep gravel trail, then becomes rocky and uneven in places

Catherine Creek is a popular and beautiful area on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. We will hike the upper part of the area first, which is about three miles. After returning to the cars, we will enjoy our lunches. There are no tables. After lunch, we will walk the lower part of the area,which is a paved trail with great views and usually lots of flowers. Bring snacks, water and lunch. We recommend long pants, boots/shoes with sturdy soles and poles. This area is exposed to weather, so dress accordingly. Be prepared for ticks, snakes and poison oak.
