Middle school and high school youth can attend free basketball practice, skill building and game play on Saturday nights at Friends of the Children at 424 NE 172nd Ave.
- Open to boys and girls in grades 6-12
- Learn new skills, make new friends, play basketball.
- Adult supervision and mentorship provided by the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC).
- Sponsored by the City of Gresham.
Schedule:
- 8-10 p.m. for grades 6-8
- 10 p.m. - 12 a.m. for grades 9-12

Volunteers Needed! City of Gresham Annual Bird Survey, May & June 2016

Pitch in to document Gresham's bird lifeSurvey points throughout Gresham's natural and urban areas. No experience necessary. Training in survey protocol and bird identification is available. |
This is a great opportunity for residents to learn about birds right in their neighborhood while contributing to citizen science and helping Gresham be a better steward of bird habitat.
Volunteers survey weekly in natural areas and urban sites; surveys take an average of 2 hours. Minimum commitment of 3 surveys is requested.
Bird survey data helps the City of Gresham be a better steward of natural areas and understand the role of urban habitats.

WHAT IT IS: We're creating an economic engine to transform Rockwood into a prosperous, healthy, and thriving community that welcomes and creates opportunities for all.
WHERE: A 5.5-acre Commission owned property at 18535 SE Stark Street - the former Fred Meyer site. We are designing several new buildings and a public plaza.

Hello Rockwood, Our experienced staff of designers is currently engaged in the extensive planning process, along with our friends at GRDC. We are working with YBA Architects, Place Studio, and Robert Foster Associates to develop a space that this community will be proud to call its own. Rockwood is a special place. We want to create a space thoughtfully and carefully, with the hopes of building something that everyone can take pride in and engage with. Your help will be critical to designing, developing, and building a community that meets your needs. We look forward to the opportunity to design this together, and hope to see you at Rock the Block on June 3rd & 4th! Additionally, we want to learn more about you! 30-minute "Place It!" hands-on workshops will happen both days - Friday at 4pm and 6pm, and Saturday at 11am and 2:30pm in the STEAM tent. Visit our booth and learn more about the project, engage with the interactive model and learn about the architectural process from our development team and designers. |

The Gresham Redevelopment Commission (GRDC) meets as needed, normally on the third Tuesday of the month immediately following adjournment of the 3 p.m. Gresham City Council meeting. Meeting start time varies. Join us for a tour of the night sky where you'll whiz through universe from the comfort of your seat! 2 shows starting at 6:00PM, 7:15PM.
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Planetarium invites you enjoy another year of great public shows using their state-of-the-art digital star projection system.
Each show is presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each program. Children are welcome to attend.
