The 4Ts-Hike consists of numerous modes of transportation to downtown Portland.
- Train – Take the MAX from Gresham City Hall to the Oregon Zoo and ride the elevator from the deepest transit tunnel in the country up to street level.
- Trail – A 4.5-mile hike on the beautiful but hilly Marquam Trail to the city’s highest point at Council Crest, with a panoramic view of the city. Then on to the campus of Oregon Health and Science University.
- Tram – A free ride down the Portland Aerial Tram to the South Waterfront District.
- Trolley – A scenic ride on the Portland Street Car back to downtown where, after lunch, the MAX returns hikers to Gresham.
- All transportation fees are covered by the Tri-Met day pass. An all-day MAX ticket is $5 (under age 65) or $2.50 (age 65 and older).
- Walking is along steep trails that require sturdy hiking boots; dress for the weather.
- Bring snacks and water; lunch is later at Pastini Pastaria.
- Park at the City Hall MAX Station and purchase the MAX ticket in advance so the group can board the train on time shortly after 9 a.m.
Senior Healthy Hikers asks participants be age 50 or older. A couple may hike if one member is 50 or better.
Pets are not permitted on hikes or walks.
