Let's Hoop It Up!
When: Sat, Aug 03, 2019 8PM-12 am |
Middle school and high school youth can attend free basketball practice, skill building and game play on Saturday nights at Friends of the Children at 424 NE 172nd Ave.
- Open to boys and girls in grades 6-12
- Learn new skills, make new friends, play basketball.
- Adult supervision and mentorship provided by the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC).
- Sponsored by the City of Gresham.
Schedule
- 8:00 - 10:00 pm for grades 6-8
- 10:00 pm - 12:00 am for grades 9-12

Zimmerman House Tours: Summer Saturdays 2019: Sat, Aug 03, 2019 12PM-4PM

Summer Has Arrived

The historic Zimmerman House was built in 1874 and was home to three generations of the Zimmerman Family. Their furnishings and personal articles remain in this two-story Victorian home, with nine rooms open to the public.
We are open every Saturday in July and August from noon - 4:00 pm.
We have three, new special exhibits:
- Isobel Zimmerman was born 120 years ago this July, and we are celebrating her life through photos, text, and more.
- Well explore the contents of a traveling trunk found in the house, which belonged to Isobels uncle, Andrew McCall.
- There is a small photo exhibit of vintage cars please come help identify the year and make!
Admission is free, with donations welcome and appreciated. Come and enjoy the gardens as well.

Indoor Sunday Futsal youth recreation is open to all students in grades 6-12 on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Friends of the Children gym.
- Free. Open to boys and girls.

- Participants must bring a signed waiver to play.
- Adult supervision and mentorship provided by Active Children Portland volunteers.

More than 40 local vendors are confirmed to join the Gresham Station Twilight Market, many of whom also showcase their products at the Gresham Farmers Market on Saturdays.

Cruzin' the Block car show takes place on Main Avenue in downtown Gresham on Saturday, Aug. 10. Events will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The event features a display of classic cars, along with lots of other activities, including:

- Live music with Ron Ruedi and the Hurricanes
- Vendor row
- Free face painting
- Balloon artist
- More than 50 awards and trophies
- Raffle prizes
- Saturday Night cruise on Main Avenue (for show participants only)

- Registration opens at 8:00 am
- Registration fee: $20 per vehicle (includes participants-only street cruise)
This event benefits the Mt. Hood Community College automotive program.
