Walk the Lower Sandy When: Wed Dec 03, 2015 9AM-5PM Where: Glenn Otto to Lewis and Clark Parks Meet at: Gresham City Hall 1333 NW Eastman Pwy Gresham, OR Get Map!

This is a 3.5-mile hike that starts at Lewis and Clark Park, where we will walk the park’s nature trail and see where ancient floods exposed a 160-foot-high volcanic cliff. Next we will drive over to Glenn Otto Park and hike its nature trails along the Sandy River. From Glenn Otto Park, we will take a short walk up to downtown Troutdale. We will stop at an Italian restaurant in Troutdale for lunch, and after lunch we will walk back to our cars. Bring along a snack and water. Hiking boots are recommended, because we will be walking on some nature trails, and they may be muddy.

Journey Back In Time
The historic Zimmerman House was built in 1874 and was home to three generations of the Zimmerman Family. Their furnishings and personal articles remain in this two-story Victorian home, including children’s toys, games, Christmas postcards, and winter clothing. This annual evening tour will be held on Tuesday, December 8th and December 10th from 2pm-7pm.

Please reserve the time you’d like to visit the house, and give yourself approximately 45 minutes to explore both floors of this heritage home.

Parking is extremely limited, so please consider carpooling.

Admission is free, but the suggested donation for this special event is $5 per person for ages 18 and older.

The Rockwood Farmers Market is a community-focused market featuring fresh produce from local farms in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. WIC, SNAP and Farm Direct coupons are accepted. Use your EBT funds at the market and we'll match the first $10 so you have even more money to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables to bring home! The Market is a collaboration of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s Interfaith Food & Farms Partnership and the Rockwood Co-op.

Holiday Sights & Sounds When: Wed Dec 16, 2015 3PM-10PM Where: Downtown Portland Meet at: Gresham City Hall 1333 NW Eastman Pwy Gresham, OR Get Map!

On this three-mile walk, we’ll check out Christmas trees at Pioneer Place, Pioneer Square, and the Heathman Hotel and all the holiday lights on Broadway. Then we will head down to the Riverplace Hotel and follow paths to “The Groaning Board,” a South Waterfront Pub, for your choice of Happy Hour or dinner. After dinner we will walk a short distance to the river where we can sit on park benches or stroll the waterfront to watch the Christmas Ship Parade (scheduled to leave the Riverplace Marina at 7:00 PM, weather permitting). After the parade, we will catch the B Trolley to the 7th and Holladay MAX station near the Lloyd Center and then board the Blue Line back to Gresham. Bring a flashlight, camera, water, and snacks. Wear bright clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Please purchase your “All Day” MAX ticket in advance of getting to the City Hall platform so that we can validate tickets and leave on time. Your “All Day” MAX ticket is also valid on the Portland trolley lines.
