Presenting the sights, sounds and sensations of the season, The Grotto’s Christmas Festival of Lights is the largest Christmas choral festival in the world. The 2011 festival features nearly 170 indoor holiday concerts performed by many of the region’s finest school, church and civic choirs. Offering a family-oriented blend of traditional celebration and serene reflection, the 2011 festival theme “Joy to the World” reflects the special season of hope that Christmas offers to many thousands of families from around the Pacific Northwest.

The Autumn Sky
Join Howard Knytych, Interim Planetarium Director as he points out objects in the autumn sky such as Jupiter, which will be as close to Earth as it gets.

All shows are presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images.

Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each 45-minute program. Children are welcome to attend.

Parking permits are required and may be purchased for $3 at ticket kiosks located by the flagpoles and gym. (Violators will be ticketed and/or towed)

The eighth annual Kanawaksooma (Quiet Thunder) Celebration is coming to Mt Hood Community College (MHCC). This cultural celebration offers traditional Native American music, dance, crafts, food and cultural enrichment for the whole family.

Chako Kum Tux, MHCC’s Native American student club, welcomes the public to this free event. Parking is free in lots U and V.

Wildlife Galore!
Join Audubon Society of Portland's Bob Sallinger and Bich Trinh and City of Gresham's Laura Guderyahn 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, October 1st, for a morning bird walk along segments of the Gresham-Fairview Trail in West Gresham. We'll take a leisurely stroll along new trail sections taking in views of Grant Butte and the waterfowl in the surrounding wetlands. We'll talk about recent efforts to support parks, trails, and improved access to nature in East County while enjoying some of our local avian fauna. If there is time we'll also visit Gresham Woods via the Springwater Corridor and do some birding along Johnson Creek.

Lace Your Shoes, Let's Go Walking!
The Gresham Regional Center Transportation Management Association hosts free monthly Saturday Family Walks in Gresham.

Bring the Family
Family Walks start at 9AM sharp on the Gresham City Hall Plaza next to the MAX station, 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. These family walks will cover a couple of miles at a pace suitable for families.

The walks will take about 1.5 hours and return to the same starting location.
