2008 INTEL-SOLV "Clean & Green"
|
27 Adults and 8 children braved the crisp weather to participate in the INTEL-SOLV Nadaka Clean-Up on Saturday October 11th, contributing over 110 hours of volunteer effort.
Lots of back breaking work was done, so you can now see from the walking path to the fence at Pacific Street and the homes along the way. A renewal of old friendships and new friends were made and another generation of volunteers learned the ropes of how to have fun and get a job done.
The project was supported by several Wilkes East Neighborhood (WENA) merchants; Boyd’s Coffee with liquid warmth, Growers Outlet with fresh apples & banana’s, Jazzy Bagels with bagels & cream cheese, & SOLV provided Banana Clif bars for extra energy.
Nadaka has been having more visitors who have found the park a great place to spend some quiet time. The neighbors have reported the park has been quiet and much cleaner during the last couple years since WENA has made a concerted effort to clear some of the under brush and be a visible deterrent to questionable activities. HB Lee Middle School students will continue their work in the park now that school has started and we are looking to have another clean-up in the not to distant future.
Bravo and a BIG thanks go to Lee Dayfield & Lisa Beliel who co-ordinated the event with Intel-Solv. Ownership of Nadaka has been their mantra.
