A delightful 1874 Victorian farmhouse
Take a step back into history at the Zimmerman House, a Victorian era farmhouse, built in 1874 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This beautiful farmhouse is a perfect reflection of typical Columbia River dairy farm life in the late 1800s. The Zimmerman Heritage Farm is a unique cultural education and recreational resource that is being created for the benefit of the public on a 5.98-acre historic site in Gresham, Oregon.

Seed to Supper is a free, six-week beginning gardening course that gives adult gardeners the tools they need to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget. Participants will be given a free gardening book, seeds, plant starts, trowels, a certificate of completion and more.

This course is open to adults living on a low income ($1,945 per month or less).

Registration is required

Please plan to attend all six classes.

This course is hosted in partnership between Friends of Nadaka, Oregon Food Bank and St. Aidan's Episcopal Church.

  • How native plants naturally resist pests & tolerate drought conditions while attracting native birds, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators to your garden.
  • Basic site planning principals, and many other great natural gardening & design tips.

  • Round-trip travel: 120 miles
  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate
  • Elevation gain: 100-200 feet
  • Suggested donation per hiker: $12

This hike will be 4 to 4.5 miles, out and back, along the lower Klickitat River in Washington. The trail has a good dirt and gravel surface, with a gradual elevation gain to the turn-around point. This area is known for its population of migratory eagles in the winter. Hopefully, we will be there at the right time to see some eagles. Wear winter clothes and sturdy boots or shoes and bring snacks and water. After the hike we will eat lunch at a local restaurant.

Senior Healthy Hikers asks that participants be 50 or older. A couple wishing to hike is welcome if one member of the couple is 50 or better.
