The day after Thanksgiving, thousands of Portlanders will gather at the Square to celebrate the lighting of the spectacular 75ft Tree provided by Stimson Lumber Company. This beloved community tradition will feature a holiday sing-a-long with Thomas Lauderdale and members of Pink Martini, the NW Community Gospel Choir, The Pacific Youth Choir and friends! With a big tree, over 14,000 colorful lights and Portland’s largest community sing-a-long this is an event you won’t want to miss! See last year’s ceremony here! The 25th Annual Spirit of Christmas tree lighting one of the communitys most popular events rings in Greshams holiday season with a family-friendly program that includes music, photos with Santa, refreshments and the lighting of the 60-foot Ponderosa pine on the Arts Plaza.

This free, jolly holiday event is on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

One spring morning in 2007, Lee Dayfield took her dog for a walk. As she passed an empty field, she saw a sign that would forever change her life. It read “for sale.”

The desolate plot of grass sat next to 10 acres ringed by a chain-link fence and barbed wire. Where others may have seen a $900,000 meadow, Dayfield saw a two-acre opportunity: a nature-based play area for the Gresham neighborhood’s children, many of them Native American.
