Round-trip travel: MAX light rail
Distance: 4.5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Elevation gain: 900 feet
Suggested donation per rider: All-day MAX ticket $5 (under age 65) or $2.50 (65 and older)
4 Ts (Trail, Tram, Trolley, and Train) is known as the ultimate Portland excursion experience. We will take the MAX from Gresham City Hall to the zoo and then hike, via the Marquam Trail, to the city's highest point at Council Crest. On a clear day we may see several Oregon and Washington peaks from here. The hike ends at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) where we will stop for snack/ lunch at the cafeteria. After lunch/snack break we will take the free, four-minute tram ride, which affords panorama views of the city below. We will then take a trolley ride to the center of the city to again board the MAX to travel back to Gresham City Hall.
Participants must have water, snacks and proper clothing for the weather of the day. Lug sole shoes and hiking poles are optional but recommended for this moderate hike.
Note: We recommend buying a TriMet day pass prior to meeting at Gresham City Hall.
Trail Condition: This trail has varied conditions from forest trail under trees to paved surface with few street crossings. Although the trail has several up and downs most of the elevation gain happens in the last half mile.
For more information about this hike please contact Kuldip Dhadwal at 805-509-0697 or kuldipdhadwal@hotmail.com.
Senior Healthy Hikers asks that participants be 50 or older. A couple wishing to hike is welcome if one member of the couple is 50 or better.
