“The Board invites parents, patrons and staff to fully participate in this process to shape the services received by the students within Reynolds School District,” officials said in a statement.

Superintendent Recommends Budget Priorities

Dr Robert J Fisher presented his Recommendations for Balancing the 2009-2010 District Budget. The recommendations are provided in approximately $1 million increments. With uncertainties around Oregon's revenue, the District does not have a firm number to begin next year's budget process. Dr Fisher estimates the District will need to reduce between $5 and 10 million to present the Board with a balanced budget.

"I make an assumption that everything in the budget is valuable," Fisher said at the March 12 (Reynolds School Board) meeting. The reductions were recommended with the impact on students and staff in mind. Fisher recommended eliminating some positions and reducing other positions from full-time to half time (as well as program cuts or elimination). The recommendations are designed to set priorities and establish a plan for the order of reductions to enable the District to proceed with the budget process.

The Reynolds School Board plans to make a decision on expenditure reductions at the April 9, 2009, Regular Session meeting.

The School Board meets in Regular Session 7:00PM on the second Thursday of every month at the Council Chambers of Fairview City Hall, 1300 NE Village St, Fairview, Oregon.
