Bring Your Gloves -- Lend A Hand!
Help Us Remove The Storm Debris From Our Parks.
Saturday, Jan 24th 9AM-Noon

When: Saturday, Jan 24, 2009 9AM-Noon
Where: Various Locations (see below)

Wilkes East Neighbors:

As a result of the high winds over the last week an incredible amount of debris has fallen in our parks. The City cannot handle the cleanup without help from community volunteers. This Saturday, January 25th, Parks & Recreation is organizing cleanups in the following four parks from 9AM to Noon:

  • Pat Pfeifer Park
    424 NE 172nd Ave
  • Vance Park
    1400 SE 182nd Ave
  • Rockwood Central Park
    17707 SE Main St
  • North Gresham Park
    1111 SE 217th Ave

Please come by one of these parks this Saturday to help with a cleanup. All you will need is your work gloves (or the City will provide them).

Already Busy This Weekend?

If you can’t make it to one of these parks on Saturday and you want to do something to help the Wilkes East Neighborhood you can go to Columbia View Park, 1000 NE 169th Ave anytime. You'll see some neighbors have already begun piling branches -- and you can continue this work. This is a great project to have your children involved in because there are many small branches that are easy for them to handle. They're never to young to learn how good it feels to help and volunteer in your neighborhood.

Nadaka Park Closed Due to Storm Damage

Unfortunately Nadaka Nature Park on NE Pacific at 175th had at least 4 large trees come down and as of this writing the gate is locked because of possible hazards. We will let you know as soon as the gate is unlocked so the community can help with debris removal. An official cleanup is scheduled at Nadaka Park for Sunday, February 15th from 9AM to Noon.
