Junginger, 52, was named to the department’s top position from among 28 applicants as part of a national search to replace Chief Carla Piluso, who will retire at the end of the year, ending a six-year run as police chief and a 29-year career with city’s police department.
Junginger is currently a captain with the Huntington Beach Police Department, where he commands the administrative operations division. He has been with the department since 1985 and holds a master’s degree in emergency services management from California State University in Long Beach and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of La Verne.
Junginger’s breadth of law enforcement experience and community involvement will surely compliment Gresham's growing needs.
