Earth Day Recycling. Rain or Shine!
The City's annual recycling event is free to Gresham and Wood Village residents (businesses may only participate in recycling fluorescents). Or, take your items to a year-round recycler. Contact Metro Recycling at 503-234-3000 for location and material information.
Be an Earth Day Volunteer
The City needs volunteers for this event. Volunteers can help direct traffic, unload and sort materials or pass out recycling information. There are two shifts to choose from: 8 to 11:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Or you can volunteer for the entire day! Collection Items
- Rigid plastics/clean plastic bags (not accepted in curbside recycling)
- Block Styrofoam / clean and dry
- Paper ONLY shredding (two bags per household)
- Fluorescent tubes and bulbs / boxes available at city hall
- Cell phones and smart phones
- Batteries (three-pound limit per household)
No Electronics or Hazardous Waste
The City does not accept electronics or hazardous waste at the Earth Day recycling event.
Options for recycling electronics and hazardous waste materials:
- TVs, computers and monitors can be recycled for free year-round at several recycling sites in Gresham; see Oregon E-Cycles for information.
- Total Reclaim Accepts TV's, Computers and other electronic items for recycling; go to Total Reclaim for information.
- Metro has two household hazardous waste facilities open for drop-off. See Metro's website for more information.
- Metro also holds household hazardous collection events; visit Metro's website for more information.
