Come learn about graffiti, what some of it means and why we need to clean it up so quickly. Gresham Police Officer Matt Fagan is our local expert on the subject and is a great presenter. We will also have a representative from Code Compliance to talk about why folks may get violation notices around graffiti and again, how important it is to clean it up. Cathy Harrington, Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement, will talk about our need for volunteers to help clean it up.

Getting rid of graffiti is everyone’s goal (well, except for the taggers). We hope this community discussion on the topic will not only help educate, but also motivate.

Ten years ago voters approved a 20-year urban renewal district bond measure to rebuild the Rockwood Town Center after Fred Meyer closed. Now, with just ten years remaining, millions spent and no viable plan, what will become of Rockwood?

Community Forum
You're invited to attend a community forum for the Central Rockwood Plan Update. This project is intended to ensure the community’s vision for Rockwood can be achieved, and that the rules in place are not a barrier to the desired urban form. The forum will introduce the project, share identified issues, and ask for input on additional issues to study.

Your input is invaluable since you have unique expertise in how the community operates, where improvements may be made, and what is currently working well.

Join us as staff presents an overview of the preferred approaches to address issues with the City's development rules. The solutions will address concerns about how the City reviews and allows food and beverage carts and temporary uses (including carnivals, special events, farmers' markets, commercial stands, agricultural product sales and other uses of a temporary nature).

An open house will begin at 6:30PM and will be followed by the community forum at 7PM.

Learn the Do's and Don'ts of Holiday Recycling

Plus, How-to Recycle Your Tree Curbside for Free!

As the holiday's draw to a close, here's a few tips for proper disposal of unwanted wrapping paper, wreaths and trees!

Holiday Recycling Questions

  • Can glossy holiday gift bags go in the blue cart?
Paper gift bags can be recycled. Tip: Usually if you can tear the paper fairly easily it will pulp up at the paper mill. Gift bags can be reused or donated to charity.
  • Can cellophane or foil wrapping paper go in the blue cart?
Non-paper wrapping material should not go in the blue roll carts. Most “foil-like” paper is metallic ink on paper and is accepted with recycling.
  • Can present ribbons be recycled in the blue cart?
Non-paper ribbons are not accepted (very few ribbons are paper-based).

Plenty more tips below this break!
