Is Pluto a Planet?
In 2006, the International Astronomical Union reclassified Planet Pluto to the new classification "Dwarf Planet".
On Thursday February 18, 2010, the 80th anniversary of the discovery of Pluto, The City of Gresham will restore Pluto to its rightful place in the Solar System.
Last September 18th, the Gresham/Rockwood community came to the Plaza to paint the Solar System. Since then additional displays have been added, including three dimensional orbs of various sizes that represent the location of the planets on that date.
The planet Mars at the Plaza del Sol was painted with pieces of a Martian meteorite that fell to the Earth. Come to the plaza and stand on Mars!
The moon was painted with pieces of a Lunar meteorite. Come to the Plaza and relive Neil Armstrong's historic "small step" and walk on the moon.
