Free safety awareness class. Feb 24
Gresham Police officer and defensive specialist Hung Nguyen will discuss how to stay safe on the street on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Held from 6-7 p.m., the class will cover intuition, body language and pre-attack indicators. Class is limited to 100 attendees. Dress comfortably. Learn more.  Top

Fire hosts free CPR training. Feb 28
Would you like to learn CPR? Gresham firefighters will provide instruction using the most up-to-date CPR techniques and hands-on training with an automated external defibrillator (AED). What you learn can save a life. The training is on Saturday, Feb. 28. Seats are limited. Learn more.  Top

Paint like a pro? Photo like a phenom? The City’s second annual Gresham Arts Festival is Saturday, July 18, and we’re looking for a high-quality crop of artists. Apply now for jury consideration. Space is limited per medium. Learn more.  Top

Recycle a broken toaster for Earth Day. Apr 18
The City’s annual Earth Day Recycling Event is Saturday, April 18. We’re accepting nonworking electronics (toasters, radios, hair dryers etc.), plus batteries, cell phones, paper for shredding, large rigid plastics, block Styrofoam and fluorescent tubes and lights. Volunteers needed to help direct traffic, unload or sort materials. Learn more.  Top

Create a bee-utiful, healthy yard
Make your yard (or school or business) friendly to birds and other wildlife with the City’s new Backyard Habitat Certification Program, a partnership with the Audubon Society of Portland and Columbia Land Trust. For $35, the customized program provides assistance, advice and incentives to improve wildlife habitat, control invasive weeds and garden sustainably. Learn more.  Top
