Learn about community programs and resources at the East Gresham Community Information Fair, hosted by the Kelly Creek and Northeast Gresham Neighborhood Associations, from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Exhibitor tables, free hot dogs and activities for children. Read more
Building Safety Month Help for Residents
City inspectors will bring their popular small-scale model home to the Community Information Fair (5/22) and Gresham Farmers' Market (6/1). Peek inside walls and under the floorboards of a typical home; learn when building codes and inspections are required for safety. Read more

Emergency Practice Drill in the Neighborhood
The City will conduct a practice emergency preparedness drill from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Mt. Hood Community College. If you see emergency vehicles and large gatherings of people, this is an exercise: Do not call 9-1-1. Read more
Tour Gresham's Natural Areas
Explore the sights and sounds of Fairview Headwaters, a wetland at the base of Grant Butte, from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23. The City's Natural Resources Program is offering free, fun and educational "Walk and Talk" evening tours of Gresham’s natural areas. Read more
Get Ready to 'Rock the Block' at Event
Lots of fun is planned on the Plaza del Sol in Rockwood from 3-8 p.m. Friday, May 31, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, June 1, to celebrate the community of Rockwood. Event includes crafts, music, dance, basketball, nature exploration, soccer and access to summer activities. Read more
Event Honors Gussie, Dedicates New Plaza, Trail
Join Mayor Bemis 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, to dedicate the new plaza and entrance from the Springwater Trail to Main City Park, named in honor of former Gresham Mayor Gussie McRobert. Afterward, the East County Wind Walkers lead free, all-ages 5K and 10k sanctioned Volkswalks. Read more
Voice Your Support for Transportation Projects
The City has applied for Metro funding for two transportation projects: improvements on Sandy Boulevard from 181st Avenue to east City limits; and improving access along Hogan Road between the Gresham Regional Center and Springwater areas for autos, bicyclists and pedestrians. Volunteer Mentors Needed for School Children
Volunteers, age 50 and older, are sought to serve as mentors for children in local public schools through AARP Experience Corps. Mentors work with children in K-3 helping with reading skills. Training provided; apply for the 2013-14 school year. Call 503-232-0007 ext. 222. Read more
