Gardening Volunteers Needed! When: Saturday, August 2nd, 9am-1pm Ready, set, weed! Spring and summer have brought a lot of growth into the garden, along with unwanted weeds. Come help community gardeners spiff up this local garden and allow for a more fruitful crop. Volunteers will help weed and mulch garden pathways, turn compost bins, and pick up litter around the garden. | ||

Summer Carnival: Music, Food, Fun and Prizes! When: Thursday, August 7th, 10:00am-4:00pm US Bank and Gresham Parks & Recreation are partnering to create a summer carnival for the community, filled with games, storytelling, crafts, arts, music, food, fun and prizes! US Bank volunteers are putting a lot of time into designing activities booths, as well and designing the day of logistics. We invite you to volunteer at the carnival, which will be one of our last summer events! Volunteers are needed to help set up, run booths during the event, and clean up afterwards. | ||

When: Saturday, August 9, 2008 8:00AM - 7:00PM Hosted by Northwest Motorsports Association Proceeds from this event benefit the Mt Hood Community College Automotive Scholarship Program. Last years event raised over $11,000. Over the past 10 years, Northwest Motorsports Association has generously donated over $94,000 to fund scholarships for Automotive Technology students! Each year Northwest Motorsports Association also awards two MHCC automotive technology students with a two-term scholarship and aids with the purchase of tools and equipment for the students Co-Op dealership experience. Mark your calendar and join the fun!

Wilkes East Annual Meeting, When: Monday, August 25, 2008 7:00PM - 9:00PM Be sure to save Monday, August 25th at 7:00 PM for WENA’s Annual Meeting. This years meeting will be held at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 17405 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon. Meeting highlights include election of officers, Nadaka Park, and special guest speak John McClellan of Owens Corning discussing and answering questions about the new Gresham Foam Insulation Facility scheduled to open July 2009. Meeting is open to all residents and businesses in the Wilkes East Neighborhood! Be A Part Of Your Community, Plan To Attend. The Wilkes East Neighborhood is located in the Northwest corner of the City of Gresham, Oregon, and is one of Gresham Oregon's sixteen neighborhoods. Wilkes East Neighborhood borders are roughly NE Sandy Boulevard to the north, NE 181st Ave to the east, NE Glisan Street to the south, and NE 162nd Ave to the west.
