Join Friends of Nadaka to restore a healthy habitat at Nadaka Nature Park Saturday, October 29th from 9 am to 12 pm! We will be removing invasive species such as English Ivy from the 10 acre forested portion of the park. The event will start with a brief lesson on native and invasive plant species.

Tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided. Dress to work in natural areas: long pants and closed-toe sturdy shoes. Please bring a water bottle and a friend! There are two locations for parking:

You may park in the neighborhood and follow the path through the forest to get to the picnic structure.

Beautiful Nature Walk

This 5-mile hike near Welches parallels the Salmon River, goes through an old growth forest with 10-foot-thick red cedars, and leads to small sandy beaches with deep green pools.

  • Round-trip travel: 66 miles
  • Suggested donation per rider: $8
  • Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
  • Elevation Gain: 200 feet

The grades are easy; stairways climb the few hills and rustic bridges cross a string of tiny streams along the way.

Hiking boots are recommended. Bring a lunch to eat along the trail. A National Forest Recreation Pass (or Senior Pass) is required to park at the trailhead.

Senior Healthy Hikers asks participants be age 50 or older. A couple may hike if one member is 50 or better.

Pets are not permitted on hikes or walks.

Survey points throughout Gresham's natural and urban areas.

No experience necessary. Training in survey protocol and bird identification is available.

This is a great opportunity for residents to learn about birds right in their neighborhood while contributing to citizen science and helping Gresham be a better steward of bird habitat.

Volunteers survey weekly in natural areas and urban sites; surveys take an average of 2 hours. Minimum commitment of 3 surveys is requested.

Bird survey data helps the City of Gresham be a better steward of natural areas and understand the role of urban habitats.

The City's third annual Green and Clean Day of Service features the community joining together for a planting and spring cleaning project at Nadaka Park in the Wilkes East neighborhood.
• The event will take place on Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to noon.
• A celebration will follow at St. Aidan's church, next to Nadaka Park, from noon to about 2 p.m. Volunteers will get free pizza and soda.
• For more information, please call 503-618-2482.

• Volunteers from across the City will join City staff to help do some "spring cleaning" around the park - light landscaping, planting seedlings, ivy removal, and disposing of trash.
• Make sure to bring a good pair of gloves and your favorite garden tool (especially shovels, rakes, and loppers).
•All ages are invited, although younger children will need to be closely supervised.
