Crime Reports
Residents can now access current property crime data on the City’s web site. The crime information is mapped so residents can get a visual perspective of actual crime reports submitted. This data is updated monthly and also includes crime prevention tips and trends. Read more

National Preparedness Month
This September has special significance as we look back on the tragedy of 9/11. All citizens need to be aware of our vulnerabilities – both man made, and those from Mother Nature of which we have seen many this past year.
We all must take personal responsibility for ourselves and our families, and build bonds with those around us that may be lifesaving during a disaster. Read more

“Gresham is…” Deadline Extended to September 30
Share all the great things going on in Gresham -- and in your own Gresham neighborhood -- by submitting a photo or video clip that captures the City’s look, feel and personality as part of the City’s “Gresham is…” public engagement project. Images submitted by Sept. 30, through the City’s Facebook page, may end up as part of a professionally produced video showcasing Gresham. Watch the “Gresham is…” video message featuring Mayor Shane Bemis. Read more

September Bike-to-Work Commute Activities
Ever wanted to try to bike to work, or even part of the way? September is the month to do it! With the regional Bike Commute Challenge many commuters are finding ways to overcome their barriers to bike commuting. The City is also hosting a Bike Commute 101 workshop on Monday, Sept. 19. Read more

Transportation Fair and Bike Rodeo
It’s time again for Gresham’s annual Transportation Fair and Bike Rodeo on the Center for the Arts immediately following the Teddy Bear Parade on Saturday, Sept. 24, starting around 11 a.m. Music and food vendors will be at the Plaza as well. Bring your bike along for a free “safety check” by staff from a local bike shop, buy bike helmets for $5 and enter the Bike Rodeo. Read more

Save Energy, Water, and Money
Learn about opportunities to save water, energy and money at home. Gresham water customers can call to schedule a Water Assessment and Home Energy Review. After a review, homeowners can apply for up to two $50 cash rebates for installing WaterSense certified high efficiency toilets. Read more

Gresham Hosts PGE Energy Seminars
Do you work for a business, own a business or know of a business that could benefit from more energy efficient lighting? Don’t miss two upcoming opportunities to learn more about energy, lighting, and controls at upcoming PGE workshops. These half-day seminars at Gresham City Hall provide an overview of energy efficiency, and are free for PGE commercial and industrial customers. Read more

Help decision-makers understand what you experience as you drive, bike, walk or take transit in the East Metro area. Next spring, the cities of Gresham, Fairview, Wood Village and Troutdale will prioritize near- and long-term transportation investments. Gresham-Fairview Trail Detour
Gresham-Fairview Trail will have a detour in place from September 22 through October 3. Williams-Northwest Gas Pipeline will be servicing its gas lines requiring a portion of the trail to be closed. To ensure bike and pedestrian access to the trail during this time, a temporary detour is in effect with every effort being made to minimize the impact to the community. Chamber Expo
The Gresham Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is hosting the Chamber Expo on November 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St Henry’s Catholic Church Gymnasium, 346 NW First St. in Gresham. This event is open to the public and will showcase the newest members of the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. Food and beverage are available. As always Try Local First! Symphonic Safari
This is family-friendly and free admission event on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (immediately following the annual Teddy Bear Parade) on the Center for the Arts Plaza in Downtown Gresham. The event includes interactive arts booths in dance, theater, balloon making, face painting, and an instrument petting zoo. The focal point of the event is a full concert of live orchestral music by the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra featuring Peter & The Wolf and the chance for the audience to safari through the orchestra as it plays.
