Free Event! Bring the Family
Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center will host its 29th annual Healthy Kids Fair celebrating children’s health and safety awareness on Saturday, Sep 6 from 10AM-2PM.
This free, family-friendly event offers many fun hands-on activities, including crafts, sports demos, healthy living information and more. Public safety vehicle tours include Life Flight helicopter (if not handling an emergency), ambulances and City of Gresham fire engines.
Families may purchase bike and board helmets at discounted prices thanks to support from Legacy Foundations, Legacy Medical Staff and Trauma Nurses Talk Tough. Helmet purchase can be made with cash or check.
Please also visit our car safety seat check clinic and we'll make sure your car safety seat is properly installed. Unused child safety seats can also be recycled at the fair.
And be sure to bring a favorite stuffed animal for repair at the Teddy Bear Clinic. Surgi-Bear will give kids hands-on experience with a machine that's used in robotic surgery.

The Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood Associations was formed to provide structure and support for the leadership of Gresham's neighborhood associations, enabling more effective cooperation among neighborhood associations in order to achieve desired outcomes. Goals of the Coalition include providing a public forum for the review and evaluation of issues and problems, providing education and information on specific areas such as land use, and providing a unified voice for the neighborhood associations.

Join in. Lend a Hand
The City is launching a Green and Clean annual service day designed to bring people together, promote community action, and create a tradition that will last for many years to come. The day of service will give volunteers from throughout the City the opportunity to help ensure that Gresham is a healthy, safe, and enjoyable place to live. The service day will consist of a range of clean up and maintenance projects, including trail clean ups and improvements, roadside trash pick up, invasive species removal, and tree plantings.

Planned Projects

  • Gresham Fairview Trail
    Trash clean up and general maintenance (weed pulling, raking, etc.) will be the focus of the Fairview Trail site.
  • Kelly Creek Wetlands Trail
    Remove the BMX track installed illegally and weed/beautify the trail at the 2nd Avenue connection.
  • Eastman and Powell Roadside Cleanup
    The embankment on Eastman south of Powell will be targeted for trash cleanup and general maintenance, as well as the planters along Powell through the Grant Butte wetlands.
  • Gradin Sports Park Arboretum
    Volunteers will plant approximately 40-50 trees in the arboretum.
  • Stormdrain Marking
    Stormdrain marking in downtown Gresham and Rockwood will help ensure that our watersheds are protected.
  • Nadaka Park and the Tsuru Island Japanese Garden
    Existing volunteer organizations at Nadaka and Tsuru Island will be able to take in additional volunteers to assist them on the day of the event.

Former Corbett superintendent and charter director will speak to board
A public hearing on a proposed charter school in the Reynolds School District is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Fairview City Hall’s chambers.
Bob Dunton, the former director of Corbett Charter School and former superintendent of the Corbett School District, will give a presentation on The Egan School, Rockwood.
The proposed Rockwood lease agreement hinges on charter approval from the Reynolds Schools District, where the property lies.
On Wednesday, the public will have an opportunity to comment during the charter hearing. Documents on proposed charter may be found at www.reynolds.k12.or.us/district/school-board.
On Oct. 8, the board is expected to vote on the proposal at its board meeting

Its happening Saturday, Sept. 27th. The Fourth Annual Nadaka Community Festival & Cleanup. Nadaka is a beautiful 10 acre forest where we will be removing invasives and litter in the morning from 9:00am to Noon.

The Nadaka Community Festival will be held after the cleanup from Noon to 3:00pm where volunteers will be treated to hot dogs, music and activities for the family. The Audubon Society of Portland will have their live birds and you will be entertained by Aztec dancers from Ollin Yolliztli as well as NW PanMan Terry Baber on his steel drum.<.p>

Annual Teddy Bear Parade

New this year!
Participants and spectators are invited to bring a new or gently used children’s book (appropriate for ages 5 to 12), for schools in the area.
Over 900 bears were collected last year and donated for distribution to the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP). The event is held for the children of our community.
Teddy Bears Everwhere
The parade will feature floats from local merchants, service organizations, schools, neighborhood groups and individuals. As always, participants will be carrying teddy bears or will be dressed in bear costumes.

For over three decades, the Soroptimists have put on this annual Fall parade to celebrate the “child in all of us” and create a tradition that helped Gresham’s “quaint and special downtown area” to thrive. In addition to the parade, the Soroptimists organize fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for scholarships for deserving women and girls in our community.

Walk Among The Colors

We will begin this five-mile hike from the zoo and follow the colorful Oak and Maple Trails before entering the web-like trail system of the Hoyt Arboretum. We’ll loop through a display of over 1,000 species of trees and a variety of exotics. Pack a lunch to eat in the covered picnic area across the street from the Arboretum Visitor Center. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.

  • Round-trip travel: We'll ride the MAX from Gresham City Hall to the Oregon Zoo.
  • Round-trip cost: Honored Citizen (65+) $2; Adults $5
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Elevation gain: 425 feet
