Neighbors Urged to Attend
When: Wed Oct 09, 2013 6:30PM
Where: Albertina-Kerr Chapel
876 NE 162nd Av
Gresham OR
Get Map!

Albertina-Kerr is in the process of making changes and additions to their subacute care facility located in the Wilkes East neighborhood.
The changes include the addition of a new building along the east boundary of the campus facing NE 165th St, opening two driveways along NE 165th St, and the future removal of an older building along NE 162nd.
The Wilkes East Neighborhood Association has several unanswered concerns about this project including security (patients and neighbors) as well as the traffic impact to NE 165th and the surrounding areas.
Albertina-Kerr was suppose to discuss this project and answer neighbor concerns at the Wilkes East Summer General Meeting, August 26th but, they failed to show-up or cancel their appearance. Ed.
We encourage you to attend this meeting with Albertina-Kerr’s CEO Chris Krenk, Wednesday, October 9th 6:30PM at the Albertina-Kerr chapel.
If you are unable to attend & have concerns about this project, please send them to krisfreiermuth@wilkeseastna.org prior to the meeting date.

Limited seating is available at this meeting. RSVP at 503-618-2247.
The City is hosting a series of town hall meetings this fall to continue its Invest in Gresham discussion with the community about funding critical police and fire services, including the possibility of a voter-approved levy in May 2014.
Because of Oregon’s statewide property tax restrictions and Gresham’s low $3.61 permanent property tax rate, the City is at a defining moment in its ability to provide the level of essential police and fire services this rapidly growing, urban city needs.
Last fall the Gresham City Council established a temporary fee as an interim solution to maintain police, fire and park service levels through June 2014. With expiration of that $7.50-per month fee less than a year away, the process of a potential levy to stabilize funding for public safety long term starts now.

Cobwebs, Ghouls & Ghosts, Laser Tag and more!
Kids of ages are welcome!
The Haunted Forest at Glendoveer Golf Course, sponsored by Umpqua Bank, will have a trick-or-treat path for kids to venture down, stopping at various tables along the way to collect candy. Tables will be run by local businesses around the Portland-Metro area.
Once the trick-or-treat path is completed, kids will participate in a Laser Tag game courtesy of GameTruck LaserTag then continue down to the “Haunted Driving Range”. Upon entering the driving range, kids will have to make their way through all the cobwebs while trying to dodge ghouls and ghosts to get to a hitting spot. From there the kids will receive a golf club and tee off with a few glow-in-the dark golf balls at the GIANT ghost floating around the field.
Glendoveer Golf and Tennis wants to provide the community with a dry, safe, and fun place to get candy and participate in a few activities. Kids of all ages are welcome; Costumes are highly encouraged! (Please note: Glendoveer staff will not scare children as part of the haunted forest theme). Trick-or-Treat bags will be provided by Rose City Paving, LLC.

Comet ISON will make its closest approach to the sun on Thanksgiving morning and if it survives, may even show its tail in the blue sky just after sunrise.
There are three shows this evening, with start times at 6:00PM, 7:15PM and 8:30PM.
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Planetarium opens the year with more great public shows, a move to a new night and coming soon, a state-of-the-art projection system.

Each show is presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each program. Children are welcome to attend.
